Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has been featured in films and TV, as well as on stage is best known for her role as Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name upon her marriage. Her talent for acting was evident since childhood. A Maryland high-school contest awarded her the best actress award. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around across the globe and lived through many cultures as a child. She was educated in the boarding school of London between the ages of 7 and 9. Later, her family was relocated away from London to Toronto, Canada. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and trained as a classical ballet dancer. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high school that teaches arts which allowed her to not just study theater but danced too. When she was 16 after a decade of years of dance Contractor realized she wanted to study acting professionally. Upon graduating from high school she received a full-time grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having been a student for a year and auditioned during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance during 92 performances of the play. She was offered the opportunity to join Stratford Conservatory. It allows only eight males as well as four female students to study traditional theater. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor's spot was assured during the upcoming series of plays, and she landed Hermia's role as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
